Watching from Torquay where Ray and Christine spent happy years and it was the birth place of Kathryn. We give thanks for the friendship of Ray and his ministry at Upton Vale where we followed in his footsteps.
I was Ray’s treasurer during his ministry at Victoria Baptist Church 1987 to 1993 I will always value his teaching and pastoral care during those years and fellowship we enjoyed Since then i looked after his tax affairs for some 32 years !
May our Lord bless & comfort all of Ray’s family & friends as he is remembered & thanks given for his life today. I know he will be missed but he is now in glory with his Saviour.
Remembering Ray with fondness – he married us as well as being our pastor at Victoria Baptist Church. Sending our love and prayers.
Giving thanks for a great scholar, a gifted preacher and caring pastor. Especially recalling his service to the Baptist Historical society, of which he was a Vice President. – Keith G Jones, President, the Baptist Historical Society.
Watching from Elmswell in Suffolk. Ray played a significant part in our early Christian walk and we considered him a friend. He dedicated our first child. I tried to get him to candidate for Dr Champion’s successor at Bristol Baptist College in 1971 🤔
A true servant in Christ.
So thankful for Ray’s ministry as Principal of Spurgeons College. He was deeply pastoral, phenomenally hard-working, a great communicator, with an unforgettable sense of humour.
Dear Kathryn and David
We thank the Lord for your Dad’s life and also your lovely Mum Christine. We will remember them for all they did for others. They showed how to care for others. You can be so proud of them. Love from us.
Good to be able to join you online … thinking of you all today and remembering with gratitude.
A lovely service honouring Ray’s life. I remember with affection his ministry at Victoria Eastbourne, and serving as Church Secretaryfor part of that time!
Pleased to have been able to be with you at this Thanksgiving. From one whose own grandfather was a student of Spurgeon himself in the 1860s.
One of the greatest privileges of our lives was to know Ray Brown. He came to our little chapel in Yelling once a month for several years. We will never forget him.
I was so glad to watch via livestream the service of thanksgiving for Ray. I was privileged to lead the welcome for Ray when he arrived at Spurgeon’s College as a lecturer in church history, and later in my ministry he helped to facilitate a new pastorate at a time when I needed some guidance and encouragement. Like so many, my wife, Caroline, and I are incredibly grateful to God for Ray and his ministry
Ray and Christine were a great comfort to me in a very difficult time of my life xx
Ray Brown’s ministry particularly his biblical teaching was such a special time at Upton Vale. I remember Christine coming and the birth of Kathryn. A wonderful humble man with a pastoral heart.
Kathryn and David,
I was sorry to hear of your loss.
What a wonderful service and a wonderful tribute to your Dad. I knew him when I became a student at Spurgeon’s in 1977 and am so grateful for all that I have learnt from him. I loved the fact that he was a great husband and Father as well as being an inspiring College Principal, great Pastor, scholar and so much more. May the Lord Bless you.
